World Health Day 2018

This year on world health day, we focus on universal health care. Universal Health Care (UHC) means that all individuals and communities receive the health services they need without suffering financial hardship. “Universal” in UHC means “for all”, without discrimination, leaving no one behind. Everyone everywhere has a right to benefit from health services they need without falling into poverty when using them.

Throughout 2018, we aim to inspiremotivate and guide UHC stakeholders to make commitments towards UHC:

Inspire—by highlighting policy-makers’ power to transform the health of their nation, framing the challenge as exciting and ambitious, and inviting them to be part of the change,

Motivate—by sharing examples of how countries are already progressing towards UHC and encourage others to find their own path.

Guide—by providing tools for structured policy dialogue on how to advance UHC domestically or supporting such efforts in other countries (e.g. expanding service coverage, improving quality of services, reducing out-of-pocket payments).

Use the hashtag #HealthForAll to support World Health Day and equality in health care.

ECCE 2018 Summer School

European Centre for Career Education (ECCE) is a training institution, which focuses on practical education, based in Prague. It provides the additional and needed know-how training and the experiences that are impossible to acquire from the university. Their programs are perfectly complimentary with university education in order to facilitate learning curve needed shortly before or after graduation. ECCE provides its students with internships after the study of its programs in cooperation with companies such as Siemens, Unicredit, T-Mobile, Chapman Taylor, DLA Piper, Clifford Chance, Dentons or PwC.

With research in medicine moving at tremendous speed, how can students keep their knowledge up to date? How often do medical students hear that they will understand the medical world and learn the most only after they enter the real world? It is no secret that out of all areas of education medicine is the most challenging. Universities can never convey all information and often young professionals find that the biggest struggles still await them.

Benefit from the experience of our Summer program and the tailor-made elective in the beautiful Prague in the Heart of Europe. The Summer Program on Medicine offers a vast range of lectures and also internships to choose from.

This year’s program will take place from 9th July until 17th August 2018 in Prague.

Additionally, all of this is done on a European level through internships not only in Prague, but in the entire European Union. For more detailed information, please see their website www.eccedu.org Or you can click these links below to watch their videos

World Cancer Day 2018

On the 4th of February from 2016 to 2018, we explore how everyone, as a whole and as an individual, can do their part to reduce the global burden of cancer. Just as cancer is able to affect every single person in different ways, everyone is able to hold the power to take action in order to reduce the impact that cancer has on individuals, families and communities.

World Cancer Day is a chance to reflect on what you can do. Make a pledge, take action. Whatever you choose to do “We Can, I Can” make a difference to fight against cancer.

New Year’s message from our Overall Chairperson

A happy new year to all our members and partners.

2017 was indeed an exciting year as promised and I’m looking forward to working with you all in 2018 – as individuals, organisations and nations. Together we can work upon the best solutions to overcome the challenges we face as an international students’ organisation.

As the world’s leading association for medical students, Asian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) International provides a great platform for members to communicate with each other at national and international levels, foster unity and promote profound inter-personal relationships. We collaborate with industry leaders, regulators, policymakers, and other organisations during conferences and events throughout the year to cultivate innovativeness and progress regarding issues that are significant to our members.

Hence, I would like to thank all our valued members and partners for their continuous support and dedication – we could not have succeeded without receiving such an tremendous endorsement. I also would like to thank the team at AMSA International for their hard work and incredible level of enthusiasm to ensure that our organisation runs successfully with the support of our members and partners.

On behalf of AMSA International, I would like to wish everyone a very happy, peaceful and prosperous New Year.
